The End of Religion

Posted Aug 1st, 2011 in FYI

Okay, so what does it sound like every time I say something that suggests I hate religion? How does it come across, when I say that denominations are nothing more than another cleverly disguised religion wrapped up in a pretty little white building. Sure it looks innocent enough.

I've been called a heretic, a radical or even someone creating dissension or division among brothers. On the contrary, that's not what I'm about at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

Now, I am not saying that my teaching pastor agreed with this statement but I mention to Pastor Mike Krause on the day he opened this series, that I believe religion is pure evil, born out of the jealousy of another's relationship with Jesus.

It just seems like when ever a new believer in Jesus Christ shows up on the seen with all kinds of enthusiasm, religion places it's filthy hand on the shoulder of the new believer and says, "Oh, that's really nice. Now let me show you the proper way." As if leaving the relationship between God and that new believer would somehow result in disaster. Maybe they think it's too much for God (the creator of all things), that God is somehow incapable?

Anyway, I'm excited to see what Mike Krause  has to say about religion and about the series that we are about to embark on an Southridge Community Church.

I believe it goes without saying that I long for the "End of Religion". Maybe you are as excited about this series as I am.
